I built this portrait as a deconstruction of the human gaze in a fragmented world. I began with a realistic, soft charcoal portrait of a woman’s face on a historical text grid, but then I aggressively broke it apart using a strict geometric checkerboard of solid black ink blocks. This digital-style pixelation forces an unsettling dialogue between organic human beauty and rigid, structured data. It is a reflection of how we perceive identity today—shattered into fragments, leaving the viewer to piece together the emotion hidden between the lines.
